Tasha King

Tasha Nichole King, is a native of Sacramento. She was born in Portland Oregon and raised in Sacramento. Tasha is an Artist (abstract painter) and a certified Yoga Instructor (200 hr).

Tasha received a B.S. in Finance in 2002 from CSU, Sacramento. In college she was an active member of the Sacramento Chapter of NABA (National Association of Black Accountants) serving as Secretary and Vice President.

Her love and passion for the art of dance inspired her to start praise dancing in 1998. Tasha was a part of two praise dance teams from 1998-2003. In 2007 she became the Praise Dance Director at Macedonia Baptist Church until 2015. She choreographed dances, lead praise dance workshops and performed throughout Sacramento and Stockton.

Prior to becoming an artist, she spent 15 years as a Claims Adjuster and Underwriter at State Compensation Insurance Fund. In addition to those roles, she also volunteered as a lead Wellness Coordinator, Yoga and Zumba instructor. As lead Wellness Coordinator she was responsible for providing and promoting wellness opportunities and activities in the workplace. She also served as a committee member for employee engagement events for 5 years to facilitate better communication between employees and management.

After reaching a state of burnout and depression in 2018, after 15 years of state government service, she decided for the sake of her health and sanity to change direction and pursue her calling in art.

In June 2021 she became a certified Artist Facilitator for the Peace Pole Garden’s Project and a certified Teaching Artist for Posts For Peace And Justice. She lives in Sacramento with her husband and 3 sons.
